Our original cottage has been a charming respite for guests for nearly fifty years. Hawthorn was built by Chauncey Somes, a descendant of original settler Abraham Somes. It is heated, has one bedroom, bathroom with shower, fully equipped kitchen, and living room. Furnishings include all linens and queen bed, flat-screen cable TV and DVD, plenty of good books, wireless internet and flowers everywhere.
Outside is a bicycle and storage shed in which we keep grills and charcoal for guests’ use. The lawn is open and sunny, with gardens and shade trees near the cottage and a deck with Adirondack chairs for sunning and observing Somesville’s resident eagles and ospreys.
